One Week In

One week ago, we officially opened the doors to Gallatin General Store.

After spending months planning, building shelves, sourcing products, stocking inventory, meeting makers and producers, and slowly bringing this idea to life piece by piece, it has been incredibly exciting—and honestly a little surreal—to finally welcome people into the space.

The biggest surprise this first week has easily been the support from the community. The kindness, encouragement, conversations, and excitement people have brought through the doors has been genuinely heartwarming.

Over and over this week, I’ve watched neighbors, friends, community members, and travelers walk through the store exploring the shelves, talking about products, connecting over shared favorites, and simply spending time in the space together. Those moments have probably meant the most to me so far.

One thing people seem especially excited about is the variety and discovering that nearly everything in the store is Montana made or Montana produced. From pantry staples and local food to handmade goods, gifts, refill products, and the growing secondhand section upstairs, people have really embraced the idea of supporting Montana makers and producers all in one place.

Personally, I’m just incredibly grateful to be here and finally open.

This store started as one of those “maybe someday” ideas, and now getting to unlock the doors each morning and welcome people in has already become something I deeply appreciate.

We’re also still growing every week. New food products continue arriving regularly, the shelves are continuing to fill in, and we’re still actively looking for additional Montana makers and producers to partner with. If you create or produce something in Montana and think it may be a good fit for the store, I’d truly love to connect.

Thank you again to everyone who has stopped in, shared the store with someone else, followed along online, left kind words, or supported the Montana makers and producers inside these walls already.
