The Sign Is Up

There are a lot of small milestones in this process and then there are the ones that make it feel real.

Last week, the sign went up.

If you’re driving along Jackrabbit Lane between Belgrade and Four Corners, look for the sign—Gallatin General Store now has a place on the building. Seeing those words up there for the first time was one of those moments where everything starts to come together in a new way. This has been more than just an idea for a while now, but it’s all beginning to come together into something you can actually see as you pass by.

It’s a simple thing, but it carries a lot of meaning. Everything is starting to take shape.

A Quick Update on Timing

While we had originally hoped to be a bit further along, there’s been a slight shift in timing as the final pieces come together.

At this point, we’re aiming for an opening toward the end of April or beginning of May.

It’s not far off, just a small shift—but one that gives us the time needed to move into the next phase and begin bringing the store to life from the inside.

What Comes Next

Once we have full access to the space, the focus turns to building it out in a way that feels both useful and welcoming:

  • Setting up shelving and displays

  • Creating a layout that feels easy to move through

  • Bringing in products from local makers and producers

  • Getting the mezzanine ready for secondhand

This is the part where everything starts to take shape—not just physically, but in how it feels to walk through the store.

The goal has always been to create a space that fits into everyday life. A place you can stop in for something you need—and maybe find something you didn’t expect along the way.

Built by Community

One of the things that has stood out most through this process is how many people have stepped in to be part of it—sharing ideas, offering encouragement, connecting me with others, and saying yes to bringing their work into the store.

That’s what this is meant to be.

A place that reflects the people around it. A place where local makers and producers are part of everyday life. A place where supporting small businesses feels natural and accessible.

Take a Look

Next time you’re driving by, take a look at the sign.

It’s a small moment—but it’s a big step forward.

More soon.
